OUR DEAR FRIEND

I knew you'd come.

I missed you,
but that isn't why you're here.

You know why you're here.

Our Dear Friend is a spooky little game about loneliness, regret, and facing your (terrible) past. Armed with a grappling hook, a bow, and a handful of arrows, you must venture down into the tombs and discover what you're willing to give up to make things right.

Originally developed by Rusty Hayes and Hamish McIntyre for Ludum Dare 44, they have been consistently expanding the game in the years since, creating miles of hand designed caves and tunnels filled with unique horrors for every play-through.

Primarily a roguelite platforming game, Our Dear Friend also borrows ideas from the survival horror genre, particularly a focus on preserving your limited cache of ammo and health across encounters. It is not a metroidvania, rather it consistently pushes players forward down branching paths with unique encounters and opportunities, aiming for a relatively short campaign with plenty of replayability.
